Specializing in family law.

Welcome

I am privileged to represent my family law and probate clients. Their courage in the face of profound and difficult change is a continual source of inspiration to me.

Valerie Browne-Matherly is a family law and probate attorney who established her own practice in 1996. She was employed as a family law attorney in law firm settings since 1984. She currently represents clients from traditional and non-traditional families in all aspects of family law, including cohabitation arrangements, non-marital parenting agreements, the drafting and negotiation of Pre-Nuptial and Post-Nuptial Agreements, as well all issues which arise in the divorce and post-divorce process. While Valerie has litigated divorce and custody cases, will contests, paternity matters, domestic violence and modification actions, her current practice is devoted to client-centered advocacy in negotiated settlements, collaborative and cooperative settings. Valerie's perspective is always practical, sensitive and cooperative when advocating in these roles.

Valerie is AV® Rated as a Family Law Attorney by the nationally-recognized Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. She was selected for inclusion in the national publication The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Collaborative Law: Family Law (2009 - 2017) and Boston's Best Lawyers (2009 - 2017). She has been named a "Super Lawyer" in the Boston Magazine, New England Super Lawyers, a recognition extended to only 5% of Massachusetts and New England attorneys.
